Yankees @ Red Sox, September 11th-13th, 2012

The Bronx Bombers came to town in early September for the last rivalry series between these AL East foes at Fenway. Red Sox fans came from all over the world for the series and to enjoy the beautiful September weather in Boston. Even though the AL East lead was slipping away from us, we still had the chance to play spoiler against those dreaded Yankees. The Tuesday game showed promise as Lester gave up 2 and stuck out 5 in 5 solid innings. Pedroia went 3 for 4 and Ellsbury 4 for 5 in a walk off win for the Home Town Team! The luck ran out for the games on Wednesday and Thursday. Granderson’s 2 home runs took game 2 and the Sox were shut out in game 3 by 7 strong innings from Phil Hughes. Nevertheless, fans got to experience Fenway at its best with the VIP tour, photos with the World Series trophies and rings and a meet and greet with Salty! The weather at Fenway was perfect, the atmosphere electric and everyone had a blast!

Twins @ Red Sox, August 3rd-5th, 2012

Minnesota came to Fenway in August for their only visit in 2012 and brought some strong pitching to the mound on Thursday and Friday. The Red Sox made it interesting on Saturday taking it to extras with help from Carl Crawford (who was a triple away from the cylce), only to fall short on Jamey Carroll’s 4th hit of the ball game in the 10th inning. The Old Town Team avoided the sweep with a 6-4 win on sunday thanks to some clutch hitting from A-Gon and a solid outing from Franklin Morales. Red Sox Destinations fans enjoyed the action from great seats on the Pavilion level and some unparalleled access to Americ’a Most Beloved Ballpark. They went inside the Green Monster, in the Royal Rooter’s Club, press box and had a lunch reception in the EMC club with Mike Aviles! Mike took pictures, signed autographs and simply was an electric presence in the room. All of our fans enjoyed the great accomodations at the Marriott Copley, the amazing August weather and a great weekend of baseball in Boston!

The Rivalry Road Trip: Red Sox @ Yankees, July 27th-29th, 2012

The rivalry renews as the Red Sox headed to New York for the first time in the season. Destinations fans knew the boys needed some support in this key AL East match up and were eager to sign up for the bus trip to NYC! The trip included a free VIP Tour and breakfast at Fenway before heading out on a chartered bus down to the Bronx. The group got unparalleled access to Fenway with time in the dugout, press box and even the Red Sox Clubhouse! Also included were gift bags for each person and subway passes for the entire weekend. The bus dropped off right at Yankee Stadium for the Friday night game. With Ichiro’s first game as a Yankee, there was certainly some buzz around the series. Unlucky for us, the buzz carried over to an exceptional Phil Hughes 7-inning performance and a Curtis Granderson grand slam in the 8th, leading to a 10-3 Sox loss.

Friday was just a memory as Saturday got started with a VIP Tour of Yankee Stadium that lead in to a private luncheon with Ryan Sweeney! Ryan signed autographs, took photos and answered questions from the loyal Sox fans. There was no way rain was stopping Saturday’s game. After a slight delay, the afternoon (turned night) game saw Jon Lester get his 1,000th strikeout and Pedro Ciriaco slam a go-ahead triple in the 9th. The Red Sox came away with the 8-6 win, a big boost to the team morale.

Destinations fans headed back to Fenway on Sunday afternoon, but a few fans stayed to watch that evening’s game as the new “Yankee Nemesis” Pedro walked off in the 10th! See below for the Red Sox Tweet about our trip and more pictures from the Rivalry Roadtrip!
